UAE women scientists are leading Arab world' first space mission to Mars, a seven-month, 494 million-kilometer (307 million miles) journey.

"Women are paving the way in space exploration and making up an overwhelming majority of the mission team", according to Sarah Al-Amiri, Chair of the UAE Space Agency and the Emirati Minister of State for Advanced Sciences, one of the youngest ministers worldwide and she is also the youngest to lead a space agency. Her science team is 80% women, based on merit and on what they contribute towards the design and development of the mission.

"I myself have not faced any adversity throughout my career, be it working at the space center from almost 12 years ago, all the way to becoming a minister within the cabinet" Sarah Al-Amiri
